Records for pig farms

The farm book that tells you what’s due today.

Zuchume keeps your herd, breeding, health and visitor records in one place, and reminds you when a sow is coming on heat or getting close to farrowing. It runs on the phone in your pocket, so the records get written in the shed, not later.

What it keeps track of

Written once, against the right pig, with the date on it.

  1. 01

    The herd

Every sow, boar and piglet gets an ear-tag number and its own page: breed, markings, date of birth, mother and father. Tag numbers are handed out in order, so nobody has to remember which one is next.

  2. 02

    Heat and breeding

Log when a sow comes on heat and when she’s served. Zuchume counts the 21-day cycle, marks the three-day window, and counts down the 114 days to farrowing, so the people on the farm know who to watch this week.

  3. 03

    Health

Pre-farrowing vaccines, iron, boosters and treatments, each written against the right animal with the date, the dose and who gave it. Reactions and allergies stay on the pig’s record.

  4. 04

    Who comes onto the farm

Sign in every visitor, staff or not: a photo, what they were wearing, and which farms or feed stores they’ve been to this past week. You see the biosecurity risk before they reach the pens.

Also in the book: medicine and feed stock with low-stock warnings, feed conversion and weigh-ins, medical history, and genetic lines for planning which boar goes with which sow.

Notebooks get wet. Whiteboards get wiped. The farm’s memory shouldn’t depend on either.

Zuchume started from a farmer’s voice notes about what actually goes wrong: a sow’s heat missed by a day, a booster nobody wrote down, a visitor who came straight from another piggery.

So every entry carries a date and time, every animal has its own history, and the things that need doing come to you instead of waiting to be looked up.
